Xolo Go vs Xolo Leap — the short answer
Xolo Go is generally the lighter option when you have an eligible B2B client to invoice but do not yet need or want your own company.
Xolo Leap addresses a different stage: you are ready to operate through your own remote EU company and need ongoing company administration.
The key question is therefore not which product is “better.” It is whether your immediate problem is sending an invoice or running your own company.

Solopreneurs routinely collapse two separate problems into one decision.
Problem one — the first invoice. You have a client, the work is agreed, and you need a legally valid way to bill them and receive the money. The scope of the problem is a single transaction, repeated occasionally.
Problem two — running your own company. You expect recurring commercial activity, you want your own legal entity, and you now need ongoing administration: bookkeeping, reporting, compliance, and a durable structure that outlives any single client.
Xolo Go — when the immediate problem is invoicing
Xolo Go is designed for eligible independent professionals who have a real B2B client to invoice but do not yet need or want their own legal entity. It can be useful when the immediate problem is a first invoice rather than ongoing company administration. It is not a market-access tool, and eligibility depends on your country, activity and Xolo's current rules.
Xolo Leap — when you actually need your own remote EU company
Xolo Leap addresses a different problem: running your own remote EU company through Estonia's e-Residency framework. It becomes relevant when commercial activity is recurring and your own company is genuinely useful, not while you are still testing demand.
Registering a company, choosing an accounting stack, or picking an invoicing platform all feel like progress. They are the cheapest available substitute for the harder work of proving someone will pay you.
The Nordic Assistant sequence is deliberate: Method → Problem → Milestone → Tool → Action. Commercial infrastructure is a tool layer. It belongs after the problem is real.
A useful test: name the specific commercial event that requires the infrastructure. "A named client has agreed to pay me and expects an invoice this month" is a commercial event. "I want to look professional" is not.
One of the biggest barriers to validating an expertise business is assuming the company must come first. It usually does not.
The trigger that changes the question: someone is ready to pay
Commercial infrastructure is the one layer of the Method where a stage gate is not the whole story. If a client has agreed to pay you, the obligation exists now. You cannot defer an invoice until your roadmap says Business Systems.
So the question is not "how far along am I?" but "has a real commercial event happened?"
Most tool recommendations in the Method are stage-gated, because adopting a tool early is usually a way of avoiding the work. Commercial infrastructure is the exception that proves the rule.
If someone has agreed to pay you, you have an obligation that exists today, regardless of how far into the Method you are on paper. You cannot postpone an invoice until you reach the Business Systems stage.
So the trigger is a commercial event, not a stage: a real or near-paying B2B client, an invoice that must go out, a payment that must be received, or a compliance obligation that has already arrived.
Two consequences:
- A member relatively early in the broad Method can legitimately need this layer.
- A member far into the Method with no paying client still does not need it.
Xolo states that eligible users can invoice eligible B2B clients across 186 countries. This describes client coverage, not user eligibility.
Nordic Assistant does not give legal, tax or accounting advice, and no single business setup is correct for everyone.
Specifically:
- e-Residency is not tax residency. Holding Estonian e-Residency or owning an Estonian company does not automatically change where you personally are tax resident, and it does not automatically move where your income is taxed. Those questions are determined by your own circumstances and the rules of the countries involved.
- Eligibility varies. Whether a lightweight invoicing route is available to you depends on your profession, activity type and jurisdiction.
- Local alternatives are often better. An existing local company, a national scheme for occasional invoicing, or an accountant who already knows your situation may be the more appropriate answer.
A simple readiness test
Five questions. Answer them out loud, with names and dates rather than intentions.
- Is your expertise clear enough to sell — can you state what you do in a sentence a buyer would repeat?
- Is your audience and their problem defined — do you know who has this problem and why it is urgent for them?
- Is there a real or near-paying client — is there a named person or company who has agreed, or is about to agree, to pay?
- Is the problem an invoice or an entity — is this one transaction, or ongoing commercial activity that needs its own company?
- Have you checked your legal and tax fit — do you know how your own jurisdiction treats the setup you are considering, or are you assuming?
If questions three and four are unanswered, you are not choosing a provider yet. You are still validating.
Only signals you can actually evidence count. Unknown is not the same as satisfied.
- Your expertise is clear enough to sell.
- Your target audience and the problem you solve are defined.
- You have an offer, or at least a first-offer direction.
- You are preparing to charge a real client, or you already need to invoice one.
- Invoicing, payment or business administration is now an actual problem, not an anticipated one.
- You have considered whether you need a lightweight invoicing solution or your own legal entity.
The last two carry the most weight. The first three establish that there is a business to administer; the last two establish that the administration is due now.
When Xolo is not your next step
Xolo — or any other administrative platform — is the wrong next step when there is no validated offer, no real or near-paying client, or no immediate invoicing or compliance problem. If a simpler local structure already fits your situation, use that instead.
Commercial infrastructure is the wrong next step when any of these is true:
- Your offer is still unclear or unnamed.
- Demand has not been validated and nobody is close to paying.
- There is no immediate invoicing, payment, accounting or compliance need.
- A business structure is being considered mainly because it feels like progress.
- An existing local structure — an accountant you already use, an existing company, or a national scheme for occasional invoicing — is simpler or more appropriate for your circumstances.
Where Xolo fits in the Nordic Assistant Method
The sequence is simple: Method → Problem → Milestone / readiness → Tool → Action.
Xolo belongs to the commercial-infrastructure layer. It becomes relevant only when a real commercial signal creates an invoicing or company-structure problem. Buying the tool is never the milestone; getting paid is.
Xolo is the commercial infrastructure slot in the Method — and, earlier than that, an entrepreneurship enabler that removes a false blocker to testing a real offer.
Ask AI Jarl before choosing a setup
If you are unsure whether you need a business structure or simply a way to invoice your first client, ask that question before comparing providers.
AI Jarl can help classify the situation from your stage, milestones and context. It should not choose a legal form or make a tax claim.
Use this with AI Jarl before choosing any business setup:
Am I at the point where I need a business structure, or do I only need a simple way to invoice my first client?
What a good answer establishes:
- Whether a real or near-paying client exists right now.
- Whether the immediate obligation is a single invoice or ongoing commercial activity.
- Whether the member has checked their own legal and tax position, or is guessing.
- Which milestone is genuinely next if the answer is "neither yet".
AI Jarl should never recommend a specific legal form or make a tax claim. It should help the member classify their situation and point at the right milestone or the right professional.
If Xolo fits your stage
If you have a real client, an invoice that needs to go out, and you have checked your own legal and tax position, the remaining question is only which of the two setups matches your situation.
